Ambitious Goals for the weekend:

1. Build a fully operational tesla coil
2. Power the machine up make lightning
3. Build an audio modulator.
4. Make High Voltage Music
5. Make a take home electronic kit.

Why these goals are so ambitious:

At Build Camp we believe that kids can do hard things. And we believe that hard things are worth doing. When kids do hard things at young ages their capacity to do even harder things increases. Today's youth mostly are not tasked with milking cows, pitching hay, or working in sweat shops. The hardest thing most youth do is choose which app to download or which pair of jeans they are going to wear.

Tomorrows leaders, teachers, mentors, philanthropists and business men and women are going to be people who know how to do hard things. 

Building a Tesla Coil requires attention to detail, takes ingenuity, skill, and effort. Building an electronics kit teaches fine motor skills, and attention to detail. It broadens the mind and teaches valuable problem solving skills.

Tesla Coil

Nikola Tesla (1856 –1943) was a futurist inventor, physicist, and engineer. Truly a man out of his time. A Tesla coil is a device that creates impressive high voltage electrical sparks through a resonant transformer, a process of induction amplification. they are terribly exciting and somewhat scary. Our device will stand over 5' tall and deliver at least 750,000 volts.

Audio Modulator
The audio modulator converts audio sound into electrical signals. The Tesla Coil will output thunder which is exactly matched to the audio. Musical Thunder. How cool is that?
