Build Camp TECHNOLOGY

Welcome to Build Camp 2016

We are excited to present this years Build Camps.

The U.S. Department of Education projects that that between 2010 and 2020 STEM jobs will increase up to 62 percent!
That means in the immediate future THOUSANDS of jobs will be available for skilled technically savvy people. Which translates to significantly higher wages for skilled people.

The best engineers start when they are young.

We know that most young people are seldom if ever able to engage in real hands-on projects and apply their creativity to serious technical projects. Most schools don't even offer shop classes anymore. The result is a dearth of people skilled sufficiently to create tomorrows lunar mining space station, self driving cars, adaptable buildings, National defense, and automated food production and manufacturing.

In recent years this has become a serious problem which thousands of companies across the country face; not enough skilled tradesmen and engineers. We believe that the best engineers began their education not in college, but as children tinkering in their garages, basements, and even on the kitchen floor.

At Build Camp children and youth have the unique opportunity to get their hands on tools, receive expert instruction, and solve real world technical and mathematics problems to create something amazing. Adults are also welcome to join in the fun; we especially like to have youth/parent teams.

At Build Camp kids discover their passion for creating, designing, and inventing. We inspire kids to recognize their talents and develop their skills. We encourage every kid to come to Build Camp and set themselves on track for a lifetime of the most fulfilling hobbies, occupations and careers available.

Build Camp Jr. May 21st and July 30th 2016 A one day camp specifically for children 5-10 years old. Wood toys, gadgets, and science projects. Fun projects for young kids. $139 for child/parent teams and $79 for each additional child.
Build Camp Blacksmith. June 24-25 2016 Get back to our roots by rediscovering the work of the most clever individuals of old days. Learn the basics of setting up a forge, heating metal and pounding it into something amazing. Also build tools with a mixture of ancient and modern technology.  $179 per child, $189 per adult.

Arduino Robotics. July 7 - July 9 Arduino is a mini micro controller (computer processor) that allows you to control inputs and outputs. Want a sensor to automatically water your plants? It can do it. How about a doorbell that tells solicitors to go away? We are going to use it to build a robot arm that can be programmed to play a xylophone or stack cups or assemble legos or anything else you can think of.

Each child will come home with his or her own Arduino controller, robotic arm, and a box of accessories valued over $125.
$399 per child, $189 per parent/adult. (adult price does not include robot. contact Josh to add robot kit.)

3D Printing and CNC Machining. July 14-16 Everyone knows what a 3D printer is, but how hard are they to use? What can you do with them? We will use one to build parts for other projects like our CNC machine and our robots. A CNC machine uses a computer to control a cutter which can cut almost any shape imaginable in wood, metal, and plastic. The problem is they can cost upwards of $500,000. We can do better than that. We will build a smaller but still sturdy machine for much cheaper. We can then use the CNC machine to cut parts for robots, more CNC machines, Tesla Coils and more.

$239 per child, $189 Per parent. Build and take home your own 3D printer for an extra $549. Must prepay by May 1st 2016.

Musical Tesla Coil. August 11-13 Never heard of one? This bad boy uses 750,000 volts to play music. the sound is created by making thunder at the specific frequency we select. $239 per child, $189 Per parent.
